History
Seawatch was started in 1981 by a group of individuals from St. Petersburg, Florida. They formed Turtle Kraals Ltd. In order to develop Seawatch they filed the necessary papers to form the condo assoc. Originally planned, Seawatch was to consist of 262 residential units with recreational facilities and marina. In 1982, Buildings 7 and 8 and recreational facilities were constructed. In 1983, Building 6 was finished. In 1984 the developer went into bankruptcy. Seawatch was recovered from bankruptcy by a new group of investors.
Originally, there were two models:"Seaward" and "Windward". Each residential unit consisting of approx. 1900 square feet. In 1982 the prices for residential units were $225,000 to $350,000. Boat slip prices were $15,000 to $25,000. In the early days Seawatch was advertised as follows:
“Being at Latitude 24 degrees 44 minutes and Longitude 81 degrees 02 minutes, we are just south of civilization as we know it. Graced by the Atlantic on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other, Seawatch, a new private protected marina community like nothing the Florida Keys has experienced.”

Today Seawatch is quite different than planned. We are a gated residential  community with only 48 residential units in three buildings on 17 acres, a private marina, a gym, a large party and meeting room,  a large georgeous pool and jacuzzi spa with full rest facilities at the pool including a Cabana Room with a wet bar for pool side parties. Seawatch offers a strong community atmosphere for a first or second home that is unparalleled anywhere in the Keys. Seawatch is not a rental community.
There are no plans to further develope the land at Seawatch.
